Introduction

Every three years Professor Dr. Hermann Goeppl, Professor Dr. Christian Hipp, and Professor Dr. Marliese Uhrig-Homburg jointly organize the Symposium on Finance, Banking and Insurance. The conference traditionally serves as a meeting point and link between theory and practice. With this concept the conference has become the largest of its kind in the German-speaking countries. For three days more than 100 speakers will discuss a broad spectrum of finance topics. Therefore the usually about 500 participants have a unique chance to get an insight into state-of-the-art theory and practice. The international reputation of the conference can be recognized by the fact that in the past years several Nobel laureates made their ways to Karlsruhe.
